Chapter 35: Rampage

"Is that so," Jael replied flatly. "I didn\'t see you when I came here." There were very few Awakeners nearby, which was why Jael chose the place.

"I must be underwater then. See?"

Jael looked back. Thayer was holding his Codex in his left hand but his right hand was covered in dark waters. He gestured and the water spun, lifting into the air and forming around him.

"I buy this today. I have a mixture of water-based aspects and fire today. What a weird combination."

"How much do you spend?" Jael asked. He still couldn\'t believe there was a Codex that let you spend real-life money to buy skills and abilities.

"The water control that I bought went for three hundred thousand gold coins. For two hours I\'ll have the ability to control water at Iron rank." He took a sip.

Jael\'s head spun. Three hundred thousand coins is three hundred thousand dollars in real life! To burn that amount of money away like that for something he\'ll use for two hours. How rich can this guy be if he has to continuously spend that amount of money?

"Can you buy silver rank skills?"

It was then that the monsters arrived, their roar shattered the air, and they descended on platforms with sharp crunching sounds that echoed together and mixed with the sound of their mighty splashes.

But not all of them fell on platforms. Some fell into the sea, but they started to freeze the water and create ice platforms to stand on. Some fell into the stone bridges and splattered. And most fell on top of Awakeners, killing them as they slammed into the platforms.

One fell towards Thayer but water rose from the sea like the dark tentacles of a beast, pulling together and slapped the orc away. "Oh dear." He smirked.

Jael looked at the way he casually slapped an orc away and even though it was from the air, it\'s still impressive. One orc landed directly in front of him and broke his ladder, sending the platform shaking and Jael almost lost his footing.

The monster roared in front of him and brought down his stone axe on. Jael transformed his hand, and the two weapons clashed. He put all his strength, targeting the hand of the orc\'s weapon.

And he broke the weapon in one go and the force drove the monster back. The orc looked at him in surprise and Jael smiled. "I am Iron rank and Hermit is Iron rank. Let\'s say I hit you with all the strength of Iron rank body, how do you think you\'ll feel?"

He raised his hand as it transformed again, turning into tentacles that then coiled into fists. This is what he realized in his three days of grinding with the others.

\'If Hermit is Iron rank and I put all the power of said rank into one specific attributes like speed or eyesight or like I\'m doing now, I\'ve turned Hermit to strength and use it to punch, how will it go?\'

The Orc bellowed and warped its hand in ice and then pounced at him. Jael punched him, using all of Hermit\'s strength– and the Orc\'s head broke like an egg, even its ribs shattered.

Thayer whistled. "One hit killed a Iron rank B, as expected of you, Mr Jael."

Jael Ignored him as he put the monster into his ring; an Idea stuck with then; if I hunt the Orcs here and take it back will I be able to sell it back at the Tower. \'I mean that isn\'t against the rules right\'

"Are you staying here?" Jael asked Thayer, who was looking as bothered as someone doing a picnic; water tentacles surrounded him, coiling around his limbs.

"Of course."

"Good for you," Jael said and darted forward, over the platform, his legs propelling him forward. It was chaos everywhere as Awakeners fought the Orcs and also tried to keep themselves safe from each other.

Jael stopped because in front of him was an orc the size of two grown men that swung its axe downward, splitting an elf into two as hot guts spilled into the water. The orc let out a satisfied grunt and turned its dark eyes on him.

It bellowed, eyes dark with bloodlust. The orc raised its hand, and an ice spear appeared, the tip glinting in the sun. Jael felt the chill from it and he raised his transformed hand with a smile. "Let\'s get on with it."

The monster threw the ice spear and swiftly followed behind; Jael slapped the spear away and gasped in surprise. He looked at his hand where the ice hit and where a bit of frost was creeping over. "How strong is that magic?"

Hermit warned him as the monster chopped down brutally; Jael whirled with his sword, striking the Orc directly in the face and splitting away half of its head. He grinned. "Using Hermit full power in my hand is a blast."

The only downside is that it won\'t give him fast healing while he\'s doing so. Also, the added speed and hearing won\'t be available.

"That\'s something I can get behind. I\'m going to kill as much as I can and then I will kill more!"

And so Jael began. He flunged himself at any orc he saw, his powerful bone jarring punch was enough to take an orc out. He transformed his hand between sword and punches. His monstrous hand was soon covered in blood and him himself was soaked with it.

He would drive inside the midst of multiple orcs who are killing Awakeners then he would whirled, his sword unfolding like a fan, the fangs set inside cutting like sawing machine.

His eyes glowed with green fire as sometimes he would use Unholy magic in his sword and send blazing ripping sword slashes that would tore gashes into the monsters.

The Awakeners looked at him and most turned away in fear. But some watched him. They noted him.
