Chapter 22 Goblins
You received a new quest!
Complete the second stage of the VR simulator!
Reward: 500 coins.
There was no point in wasting any more time on the first stage, be it with the physical strength or magic. Ethan could decimate the slimes with ease, so he decided to proceed to the next one.

"I still have some status points, and I didn\'t use any skill points. So, I have some leeway to face more powerful monsters."
The quest system was quite accurate, so it looked like the second stage would be five times more difficult than the first one. Still, Ethan couldn\'t help but frown while suddenly, several goblins began to appear around him. Those were a bit different from the goblins he knew and defeated many times. The ones in front of him had yellow skin, their bodies were basically skin and bones, but they were armed with daggers, lances, and bows. The tallest of them wasn\'t even 1.5 meters tall. Ethan couldn\'t sense much mana in them either, so they weren\'t that strong. Suddenly and in a very unorganized manner, the monsters ran toward him.
"I shouldn\'t have expected less from goblins. Or perhaps they have been programmed to act foolish like this."
Ian had seen Ethan fighting a few times on the simulator on the previous day, he and many others. So, Ethan didn\'t feel the need to hide the fact that he could use a magic-like inventory. As expected, Ian didn\'t even flinch when a long iron sword appeared in Ethan\'s hands out of nowhere. In fact, he was sitting on the grass while holding his knees, and at the same time, he was smiling as if he was watching something interesting.
"Annoying idiot… Well, I just have to endure this for today."
Ethan already knew the perfect deal with Ian, so eventually, he wouldn\'t be a nuisance anymore. With a single swing of his sword, Ethan split in two, five goblins that got too close. However, that was the limit of his current strength, and he still had to worry about the other five coming from behind.

The monsters which tried to stab him in the back ended up only hitting the grass on the ground. Before they could even notice, Ethan had rolled on the ground and escaped them. Unfortunately, when that happened, the goblin archers finally joined the fray. Twenty or so arrows flew toward Ethan. Although he could avoid most of them, he couldn\'t avoid them all, and since he was training to recover his senses, he decided to go all out.
Ethan held his sword as firmly as possible and then clenched his teeth. Tensing his muscles to the limits, he prepared a big attack. When the arrows were a few meters away from him, Ethan let all his energy and his strength explode. Swinging his sword, Ethan hit nothing. However, that big movement created a powerful wind barrier that repelled all the arrows.

"Ouch… I guess this is one way of using skills."
Ethan learned this skill in the past, and although he tried to replicate it, he didn\'t expect he would succeed in learning the skill. Controlling and using stamina was something he had planned to do in the near future, but that worked as well. That being said, the pain in his muscles made him think that he should train more instead of learning those types of skills on the fly.
"If only I need less preparation. This kind of attack would be awesome to devastate all the melee goblins all at once."
"Did you just learn that?" Ian asked. "Your body doesn\'t look like you used this until now."
Ian wasn\'t just an annoying guy who was good at stealth, he also had good eyes, and Ethan knew that was one quality of good assassins since they couldn\'t choose the wrong target. In any case, Ethan ignored him.
"Come on, man," Ian said. "Don\'t ignore me. I know what you are planning, so don\'t do this. I\'m terrible at waiting, and I have the patience of a little kid. Just help me out, and I will do my best to spread your good points to all the girls in the class."
"Don\'t lump me with you," Ethan said. "I\'m not that desperate."
"Really? You don\'t look like a guy who had a harem in another world," Ian furrowed his eyebrows and rubbed his chin. "Maybe you will become a cool adult, but that is the type only a few women are looking for. Girls around our age only like the handsome and the strong ones."
Ethan wondered if he should tell him that the king of the Hedo kingdom offered the hand of his three daughters to him, but in the end, Ethan decided to keep quiet about it. Nothing good would come out of bragging to a guy like him. Besides, the king didn\'t offer their hands because he was handsome or stronger. It was because he was a hero. Something that he didn\'t work hard to become.
In any case, Ethan felt like sighing. As if he didn\'t have enough problems as it is, now a guy who was interested in his teacher was bothering him. Although that wasn\'t the case, Ethan felt that he was too old to deal with such dilemmas. Ethan learned much sooner than he expected that the problems of his teenage years are pretty small compared to most things.
Regardless, Ethan resumed his focus and faced the goblins. However, only the archers caused some problems for him at the beginning. The others tasted of his iron sword and didn\'t live to tell if it was good or not.
