Chapter 191: Magic is lame?

"Not only that, but he didn\'t even use his magic once, but the undead still had no chance!"

As he kept rambling about how cool uncle Thufrat was, Ephine interjected.

"Wouldn\'t it look cooler if he used some magic too?"

"Of course not, magic is so lame!" He quickly rejected the idea.

Both Ark and Ephine felt a little embarrassed when they heard Atar call their fighting style "lame". Considering how both of them were very adept in the use of magic, it felt a little odd hearing Atar call it lame, but he was only a kid after all, they just said things without considering other people\'s feelings sometimes.

Since Atar seemed disillusioned about magic, Ark made up his mind to show him how cool it was one day.

With the conversation lingering in the back of their heads, they made their way outside of the dungeon. Ark had already prepared everything he needed inside of his spatial bag, and after a fairly quick meal with some enjoyable conversations, they reentered the dungeon. This time, they didn\'t stay for longer than 2 hours before they regrouped again.

Compared to the day before, Ark had still gotten plenty of levels, in fact, he had gotten 5 of them today too!

Although that was the case, he wasn\'t going to add the points until they had gotten back to the house. He wanted to have a clear mind when he did it, unaffected by others. The journey back to the city was as uneventful as usual, but for today, Ark actually had some plans!

The others just wanted to have a look around town to see if they could find anything fun to do, but Ark was going to visit the library.

Although Ephine was also interested in getting more knowledge about humans, she didn\'t feel like going there today, she\'d rather just walk around with Atar and Thufrat. Ark didn\'t blame her, they had worked hard today, and she probably didn\'t feel like doing anything more tedious.

Studying about humans and their lives was probably something you didn\'t want to do after working hard for an entire morning. Personally he just wanted to find something rather specific.

"Well, you guys go and have some fun, I shouldn\'t take too long."

After splitting up, Ark asked a random pedestrian where he could find the library, and after getting a pretty... rough description, he set off. With some guidance from kind souls along the street, reaching the library wasn\'t too difficult. The building was a majestic sight compared to the rest of the street, and it only excited Ark more when he saw it.

Before he could enter the library, he needed to pay a fee of a silver coin. The reasoning behind the fee was pretty reasonable to Ark, knowledge was power. To commoners, paying a silver coin to read some books wasn\'t very attractive, but to someone like Ark, there was nothing he needed more. In general, he needed more knowledge of this world since it seemed to have become his home after all.

Not only that, but there were also some things which he really wanted to know, and the only place he could easily find them was here.

Before he could enter, he read through the rules, he couldn\'t just walk in without knowing what was allowed. To his delight, the rules were pretty standard, and there weren\'t many restrictions. As long as he was quiet and respectful, he could read essentially whatever he wanted.

Naturally, he wasn\'t allowed to steal any books, and this wasn\'t like a library in his old world, where you could borrow books either.

After getting a good grasp of the rules, he entered the ancient-looking building and started browsing the shelves. The library was divided into different sections depending on what you wanted to read, and Ark could pretty easily find the magic section. Contrary to his expectations, there weren\'t a lot of books pertaining to magic.

Quite the opposite actually, the books on magic were far and few in between.

As he noticed this, his hopes he had when he walked into this library were beginning to sway a little, would he need to leave here empty-handed, without finding what he was looking for? The more he looked around, the more annoyed he was getting until one book finally caught his eye.

The book looked fairly old, and it was standing in a pretty inconspicuous corner of the library, but as soon as he read the text on the cover, Ark felt like he had hit the jackpot!

[A beginner\'s guide to magic circles]

The text was simple, and it looked pretty unassuming, but Ark was very happy when he found it. His sole purpose of going to the library was to find out more about magic circles. What they could do, and how he could construct one himself. This book was like the light at the end of the tunnel, or a saviour of sorts.

If he didn\'t find the book here, he would have to go scouring elsewhere to find something similar.

Since there were plenty of seats around, Ark quickly found himself a place to sit down and started indulging himself in the contents of the book. Although the cover made the book seem ordinary, its contents were anything but simple. As Ark got deeper and deeper into the theory behind creating magic circles, he lost track of time, and soon, an entire hour had passed.

Realising how he had somehow been reading the same book for an entire hour, Ark had to give respect to the author of the book, its contents were simply captivating after all.

Although he had taken his sweet time, Ark had found what he came for, and he now had a decent understanding of magic circles. All he needed to do now was try and experiment with creating different magic circles of his own. If he could create powerful magic circles, and inscribe them on parchment, he would be able to create magic scrolls, which could get him an easy source of income.

The price of magic scrolls was pretty steep since not many could create them. Even though many understood the theory behind it, they couldn\'t control their mana well enough to actually do it.

Ark\'s control over mana was exceptional, and he believed that with enough hard work, creating magic scrolls and magic circles of his own would be inevitable. Since he had already learned what he came for, Ark decided to leave the library. Even though he wanted to read some other books too, his time was limited, and he wanted to spend some time with the others too.
